Spring 2013 Hottest Trends for teens – by my teenager

Hey everyone! Isabel here. This is my second guest/daughter post on my mom’s blog. I’m not the best writer but when it comes to shopping, I know my stuff. So, make yourself comfortable, sit back, and stick with me here. Oh, and enjoy!

On Monday, my mom took me and my two sisters to Indianapolis for a day shopping trip. Of course this trip was greatly anticipated and took a lot of preparation. Seriously, with three teens/tweens in the house, preparation was required!

My mom gave us some guidelines to follow BEFORE our shopping trip (she’s tough like that) you can read about them here…but…to prepare myself, I scanned all the People, Lucky, Girls’ Life, and Style Watch magazines in the house! When I found a top spring trend I liked, I tore it out and added it to my growing stack. When I was finished emptying out my mom’s magazines (sorry, mom!) I made a list of all the clothes that I definitely “needed” for spring and summer. With that, I was ready to go shopping!

P.S- everything purchased was mom-approved!

There is quite a bit of focus on fashion at our house. But don’t be fooled. It’s not because we are self obsessed. We truly enjoy the artistic sense of pulling together outfits. Pieces from here. Bits from there. Borrowed from her. Thrifted from them.

It’s a sort of game.

I mean you have to get dressed right? Right?

So you might as well make it fun while you express yourself!

The challenge? Four females under one roof!

Four personalities.

Four senses of style.

Four different budgets.

And three of those “females” keep growing! Rotten kids! 🙂

For the first day of spring break we planned a shopping trip to Indianapolis….”just us girls”. But I refuse to go into this blindly. And…are you ready for this? I really don’t like to shop! I like to have a plan. Get in. Get out. Nobody gets hurt.

The thrill of the hunt. The excitement of the perfect find. The feeling of success. These are part of a good shopping experience are they not?

Now I have to be honest…you’d expect nothing less right? I don’t really like to shop. I am not a “rack browser”. I am not a casual looker. I think I shop more like a man. Get in. Get out. Nobody gets hurt.

And…I’m not a good “thrifter”. Try as I might. I just don’t like Good Will or Salvation Army.

However…that being said. I do enjoy consignment store hunting with my girls.
